What should an LV switchboard maintenance scope include?

A practical checklist for specifying equipment, inspections, outages and deliverables before requesting LV switchboard maintenance.

“Maintenance” can describe different work: a scheduled inspection, diagnosis of an existing fault, or specific tests after a system change. Before requesting a quotation, define the objective, equipment and expected deliverables so your team and the contractor can discuss the same scope.

Identify the equipment and boundaries

List the switchboards, their locations and models where known, and their current operating condition. Share available single-line diagrams, load schedules and earlier inspection reports. State whether the request covers circuit breakers, busbars, protection and control devices, internal connections or related equipment. If records are incomplete, say so. An initial assessment may be needed to define the scope rather than assume the equipment condition.

Separate inspection from repair

Depending on the equipment and agreed scope, maintenance may include component inspection and cleaning, connection checks, electrical tests and thermal inspection. Finding a defect does not automatically mean repair work or replacement parts are included in the initial price. Ask which activities are included and how additional work would be recommended and approved.

Question to settleWhat to specify
Which equipment is included?Board names, locations, components and boundaries with connected equipment.
Which inspections are required?Agreed activities and how results will be recorded, subject to equipment condition and site procedures.
How are defects handled?Reporting, recommendations and approval for repairs or parts.
What is the operational impact?Access, isolation and outage arrangements coordinated with the site team.
What will be delivered?Work summary, results, observations, recommendations and open items.

Coordinate access and outages

Plan the work around the facility's operating needs. Identify access hours, permit requirements, the site contact and any necessary shutdown windows. Qualified personnel must determine safe execution arrangements for the specific equipment and site. A general checklist cannot replace that assessment.

Ask for decision-ready deliverables

A useful report explains what was inspected, what was observed and what needs action or monitoring. Agree on the reporting format, who will review it and how corrective work will be prioritized if issues are found. This makes quotations easier to compare and the maintenance results more useful for later planning.

FLEZCO offers low-voltage switchboard maintenance within an agreed scope based on equipment and site requirements. To discuss your project, share the switchboard list, available drawings and location through request a quotation.
